The Gentry Report 10/03/07

     Well I know the last report was a year ago and I’m sorry it’s been so long. I have been in and out of the hospital, and using my free time to keep the page going. I have not been able to get out to the tracks as much as I wanted. And now that I can again I’m helping Kil-Kare out for the rest of the season. But I have been to a couple of tracks this year. But didn’t get any stories wrote. So here is some random stuff. This year has seen some bad things on all levels of racing. Like long time race favorites Dyno Don Nicholson, Eric Medlen passing away. One from old age and the other from a crash. The man that started it all Wally Parks passing away at 94. John Force bad crash at Dallas. Nascar thinking that they are god’s and can do anything they want. Ihra losing a lot of it’s tracks to Nhra. The Track in Mansfield being put on hold. Losing Jackson County Speedway, like we can keep losing track of any kind. So far stopping Steve Engel from building his track. The passing of Jerry Green Motorcycle rider. There were some good things also, like London Dragway wining the track championship at Indy. Dario Franchitti wining the Indy 500 and the IRL championship. J R Todd wining more national events. Ron Simko making it in to the bracket finals. Getting to see some of my old friends at the track, and making some new ones. Now some more random stuff. The car count at some of the local tracks. Is it the price of gas that’s keeping them away or payouts? Could it be the big ¼ or 1/8 debate? I know it is a lot of money to race with fuel for the tow rig and race car and if you take a family with you it’s even more, plus food and drinks. With all of that if the closest track to you doesn’t take care of you, it will cost you more to go to another track. What do you the racer think the track owner’s can do to help out?
